Dear Friends,

How was your summer?
First, let me say to all my pals in the Okanagan who were attacked by fires: I hope you are alright. I think the whole world is wishing you well and that you never have to go through that again. Whew! If any of you lost your home, and in your home you had any of my albums, please know that you have Rick’s “Guaranteed Fire Insurance” and I will send you a replacement right away!

I spent the month of July in Hong Kong working on a show called “The 5 Elements”. It was written by my friend Harry Wong. We used a lot of my music in it! Oh by the way, the five elements are earth, wind, fire, metal and water! Harry is an incredible musician and magician, so the show has lots of amazing tricks to see and cookin’ music to hear. He translated many of my tunes into Cantonese, which is one of the languages commonly spoken in China. The show will be coming to Canada in 2004! You can see all the dates on the tour section of my website (Tour Dates ). I hope to see you there! There is also a new CD of the songs from the show coming out… wait ‘til you hear My Friend Has The Biggest Ears In The World sung in Cantonese!! It’s very cool.

Than-Q times 1000 to all the folks at the Vancouver Island Sandcastle Competition / Festival / Ex-tah-vah-ganza! I had a wonderful time… and the Comox Kids Fest was one of the best I have been to in years! And I loved meeting all my new friends in Pullman! To all my fellow Nanaimo-ites: it was great to see you at Longwood for the Cops For Cancer fundraiser… and I hope to see you at Theatre One on November 29.

I am very close to finishing my first songbook and Rick Around The Rock will finally be released on CD really soon… and even though it is kind of grey and rainy, it is still such a beautiful day.
